Parade of the disgusting ad icons
In what appears to be a candidate for the most disgusting ad icon ever to slime the televisions of America, Mucinex, an expectorant (oh do we have to go into this?) made by Adams Respiratory Therapeutics, launches a whole $22 million campaign today around the revolting little green man, who will soon be appearing in many more media than most of us would ever want him to. And in so doing, he’s bound to rank up there in the disaffections of millions with such other fan faves as Polyp Man (to fight colon cancer), Digger the Dermatophyte (that’s the given name of the yellow toe fungus monster for Lamisil) and the Ty-D-Bol man—although, to be fair, his problem wasn’t that he was disgusting, it was just his choice of habitat. OK, it’s time to move on. --Posted by Catharine P. Taylor |
