Don't love the Dove campaign
While the visual of Marge with her blue hair flowing down her shoulders is certainly memorable, most of us choose not to look to cartoon characters for advice on how to avoid bad hair days. They’re cartoons! True, we’ve all seen that slo-mo shot of a live model swinging her hair to and fro in haircare commercials a zillion times (a neck movement, to be sure, not generally found in nature), but at least it shows us what the product actually does. —Posted by Catharine P. I think they used the characters in a clever way. What person doesn't recognize Velma, Wilma, and Marge? I think it was playful, classy, and by using highly recognizable characters in their ads they are building a better baseline for future consumers. The cartoons range from older generations and newer generations, so consumers of all ages can be reached in this campaign.

I think that these ads backfire, actually. When you have a classic image in your head of those characters and then some modern shampoo comes along and changes that, it's just not right. Marge with her hair down isn't really Marge and oh, Wilma! I found myself irritated with these ads rather than wanting to run out and buy a bottle.

Come on, do you really think the slow-motion shot of the gorgeous model's beautiful hair is an accurate representation of what the product will do for you? This campaign stands out precisely because it takes haircare commercials away from that unrealistic place they've been since the advent of TV commercials.
Now if Dove could only find "real" cartoon women...

Are you fools seriously that negative! i am a huge fan of the simpsons ever since it came out and the only reason why she has her hair up is because homer liked it that way. And who cant recognize that thats marge i mean come on! And i acually comment dove for all their doing. Its so stupid because y'all complaining when the hair of a character changes. When you have nothing to say just shut up. Plus the dove is promoting beauty in this you can clearly see that they didnt make her skinny or her breast bigger she looks like marge.

This adv is not about what the product doesn´t or does do. It´s just telling us that these characteristics may be the ones that makes us unique, beautiful, and we should not try to look like pre-estabilished model of beauty chosen by the industry os cosmetics.
I´m sorry about my terrible English. Have I made me clear?

I Like seeing Marge Simpson, Velma Dinkley and Jane Jetson with the new and updated hair styles. Looks quite modern and nice.
