Memories ... like the click-streams of my mind

Dancing_baby2If you get nostalgic for the early days of the Web, and even if you don’t, it’s worth swinging by the “netrospective” currently being staged by Yahoo! here. It’s part of Yahoo!’s celebration of its 10th anniversary, which makes us feel ancient and also gets us to wondering whether that business card we still have of Jerry Yang’s (given to us by him at a press conference at an Internet café—chortle!—in the East Village back in the day) is worth more than the cardboard it’s printed on. Probably not. Still, dreams of Internet riches die hard.

But we digress. It’s a fascinating site, even if one of the 100 milestones it details is the phenomenon of the creepy dancing baby. Also there: the online response to the death of Jerry Garcia and The Blair Witch Project, and the Net’s role in bringing disaster relief to tsunami victims.
