The ghost of Kozmo
MaxDelivery, which promises to launch March 15th, will deliver everything from diapers to DVDs, with the $4.95 delivery fee waived for orders over $50. For now, MaxDelivery will serve addresses below 14th Street in Manhattan and only from 4pm to midnight, with delivery promised within an hour. While some may take this as a sign of the Internet bubble’s comeback, AdFreak chooses to focus on how much easier it’s getting to be lazy. After all, Pizza Hut is now delivering pies ordered directly from “EverQuest II” game players. As MaxDelivery’s Web site puts it, “Taking the time to run errands to the store is a waste of the limited free time that we all have.” Ditto. Two of the site’s frequently asked questions clearly identify the market opportunity: “Can I rent adult movies? Can I buy beer and wine?” MaxDelivery responds affirmatively on both counts. —Posted by Brian Morrissey |

Interestingly enough, there's another company that's been doing this (and making money at it) in Atlanta, GA for two years now called zifty.com. I read in a recent newspaper interview that they're going to be expanding to several northeastern cities this year.

Thanks for mentioning Maxdelivery. I noticed your post on Technorati.com.
We hope to have a better fate than our predecessors;-)
New Yorkers are so busy these days... 1 hour delivery is not even really a luxury, it's almost a necessity given the myriad of errands you have to do outside of your job. That's where we fit in.
Our delivery zone is up to 24th street on west side and 20th Street on the East Side. In time, we'll move further up Manhattan.
If you haven't ordered yet, give us a test drive. Use code: MAXBLOGS to get a $20 off anything on first order.
If you have any comments on our service, feel free to email me at: scarl AT maxdelivery.com. we're very committed to providing the best customer experience possible.
Best,
Stephen @ MaxDelivery
