There was a similar campaign in minneapolis a couple years ago. The campaign turned out to be for a radio talk show. The "Ugly Kids" billboards ran for a month. The next month they updated the billboards with a picture of adults. The copy read "Ugly Kids grow up to be DJ's"

And is this connected to the cow campaigns that are coming in May?

Clear Channel has run this (or similar) in years past.

I live in salt lake and i think its pretty funny. I think people in Utah tend to get hot and bothered about every little thing that isnt LDS approved. We cant forget the billboard that is on I15 south.. the one that has the big bottle of booze.. people freaked on that one. everyone needs to relax a little.. things like UglyKids.info make people laugh. whats so wrong with that??

Hi: I live near Albuquerque, NM. Yesterday I was interviewed by Channel 13, TV-Albuquerque on the billboard "Kids Are Ugly" that appears just off I-25 in Albuquerque. They ran the piece last evening, July 15, 2005. My comment that was aired was "Kids aren't ugly, they are beautiful." Why doesn't some one do another bill board with that slogan on it and see what comment it brings. Put it near the one that says Kids are Ugly. Ben

I also live in Toledo and I've seen them too, but I don't know what they're for. I was in Monroe today and I saw one there too. These billboards are so wierd.

I live in toledo, I am outraged, I taught my Kids that such language was forbidden as much as other words like stupid, hate you, dummy, idiot. if they did not like what you doing/saying they were instructed to find another way to tell you their feelings. I want an answer to these billboards so bad!!!!!!!!!!! what in the h----kind of message are they trying to send. my wildest imadgeination,....can it be good?

I recently saw the end while driving on the interstate in Milwaukee and have never been so upset about a billboard. I am an advocate for children and was saddend by the ad. I find this form of advertisement irresponsible, rude, and offensive. I spend a great deal of my time teaching and explaining the proper way to behave to children of school age years. I spend an even greater time boosting self-esteem and condifence in children and adults. I have learned where the ad comes from and the thought behind it...that only infuriates me more. There is a time and place for everything...someone here dropped the ball and you should be ashamed of yourselves. I have had enough and refuse to listen to the radio (KISS-FM) station that takes responsibility (and pride) in that outdoor advertisement. Step up folks and take some professional responsibility!!

I am sorry to say it but I thought it was funny. I was confused a little on what it was about, but now that I know it just makes it even funnier. I listen to that station in the morning, they are fuuny people. Hey they aren't my kids.

What does KISS-FM have to do with the billboard in Milwaukee? I did't find anything on their website and I don't listen to that station.

jeez. I'm not one to criticize, but some people need to lighten up a little bit
1. They're not your kids
2. It's a billboard.
3. Gettin' all riled up about it is not going get you anywhere.
I find it to be quite amusing.
Also, most of you know that it's all in the advertising. I've learned that who else, but KissFM is behind the billboard. hooray. Next time I turn on my radio, what's going to come to mind? KissFM and those Ugly Kids? Dunno.
At least one thing's funny about the Milwaukee KissFM morning crew; their child pictures.

why wouldn't they just put the whole thing "Ugly kids grow up to be DJ's" all in one poster? Give the ugly kids something to look forward to! Send a positive message.
The concept of putting up a billboard that mocks ugly kids for no particular reason is really ruthless. We should celebrate the awkward individuality in all of us!
If that's their real message, their strategy is totally non sequitur with out all the information. a conceptual mismatch. Form follows function folks. Otherwise this billboard is doing the same thing that all other obnoxious media stereotypes do, shaping and forming impressionable minds to certain unattainable ideals and feelings of inadequecy.
i guess some people enjoy shock value, while others would like to see a pointless billboard say something worth while for once.
