The perfect TV for watching SportsCenter

Tv_espnI guess this makes sense. ESPN is exploring the concept of selling ESPN-branded TV sets, today’s New York Times reports. While the Disney-owned cable sports network describes the idea as being in the “preliminary” stages, the Times points out that Disney-branded TVs are already sold through Wal-Mart, a purchasing opportunity that I’ve so far managed to pass up. Unless there turns out to be something really special about this TV, it just doesn’t seem like something very worthwhile to me, despite the obviousness of how watching ESPN on a branded TV has a certain synergy. Slaves to the sports net are, of course, the market for the product, but that’s preaching to the converted. How this truly moves the brand forward, I’m not sure.
