Daly's Hooters deal fits him to a tee

Hooters_daly21In addition to being perhaps the greatest golfer ever, Tiger Woods may be the sport’s best dressed, unless you go in for the plus-fours and tam o’ shanter look championed by the late Payne Stewart. What could be more elegant than Woods strolling down the fairway in his sleek Nike duds? There’s something about his athletic grace that makes his Nike deal fit him like his golf glove. But Woods wasn’t the only player at this year’s British Open whose primary endorsement deal somehow fit him. Contrast Woods with John Daly, the black sheep of the PGA—who we once recall smoking on the course during a tournament in one of his more subtle transgressions. He was walking the greens at St. Andrews with a big Hooters logo on his shirt, looking, as always, like just another guy on a public course anxiously anticipating the 19th hole. It would be funny at any tournament, but at the veddy, veddy proper British Open it was downright hilarious. Still, we’re sure that Brits who buy the tabloids for the Page 3 girls understood where Daly was coming from.
