Jon Stewart to interview undisclosed, yet esteemed, magazine editors

Jonstewart1In case you hadn’t noticed, the greasy build-up to September’s Advertising Week in New York has begun—for better or for worse. They’re out asking people to vote (once again) for their favorite advertising icon. (Why not switch things up and let people vote for most disgusting ad icon? And the winner is—Mr. Mucus!) Anyway, someone forwarded us a release yesterday—no link to it is available—about what is being billed as the week’s highlight: Jon Stewart is going to interview “four esteemed magazine editors” (not named in the release) “for a special evening of comedy titled, ‘Laughing Matters: Magazines Celebrate Humor.’ ” God, we’d die to have a bird’s eye view of the battles currently going on in the corridors of Condé Nast and Time Inc. over who gets the gig. We also liked this sentence from the release: “In his own distinctive style, Stewart will question and banter with the editors on news and issues of the day cutting across a broad range of subjects.” Is this the style they’re referring to? We sure hope so. If it’s not obvious already, we woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Leave us alone, and go stuff the ballot box for the Pillsbury Doughboy, if you must.

Mr. Mucus? Humm. I still haven't recovered from "Herb," when he did the Burger King ads.
