Gap.com shoppers freed!

Gap1_3We wish to officially announce that the Gap.com site, following at least 26 days of being all or partially shut down, is now open for business. Give it a spin, as remember, all of the redesigned Gap, Inc. sites are supposed to revolutionize the e-commerce business. Tell us what you think.

Wow. That's a long driveway for a small house.

Compare Gap.com to to the fluid functionality of this site that was featured in the latest Communication Arts Interactive Annual:

Say what you will about ease of content management, but this Flash-based site for a little Colorado boutique blows Gap.com out of the water. The only reason anyone's paying the slightest bit of attention to this redesign is because they went off the grid for such a long stretch.

The site may be working, but the inventory is really low- only XSmall sizes for seven out of the ten products I spot checked. Looks like it was a backend integration problem that delayed their launch- trouble talking to the big iron, probably.

I forget - what's "The Gap" again?

I understand Gap is a large company and to that to have their site down so long is weird, but Adfreak seems like it's giving undue blog time to this. Next topic.
