ABC looks into Muppets reality show

You’ve heard of America’s Next Top Model. Get ready for America’s Next Top Muppet. Variety reports that ABC has ordered a script and five script outlines for an American Idol-type parody show in which viewers may get to pick a new stuffed entertainer to join Kermit (shown here celebrating his 50th birthday this month at a parade in the town of Kermit, Texas), Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppet gang. Fan sites including the excellent Muppet Central have been tracking this story since Disney acquired rights to the Muppet characters in 2004.
