Maybe it’s a better time for ice skating

Sledding1Practically all the snow has melted in New York City, making this ad’s suggestion a bit of a moot point, at least around here. And when the next snowfall comes, a parent or two might want to think about hanging around on the slopes, just in case. It turns out that more than 10,000 kids between the ages of 5 and 14 are treated in emergency rooms each year for injuries related to sledding.

Please, moot doesn't mean irrelevant. It means arguable. A moot point is one that can be argued forever with no resolution because neither side can prove their case.

Sorry, just a pet peeve.

These ads always make me mad. The idea that all women are instant whores the second you pacify them with big fat diamond gifts. I don't know... maybe it's kinda (sadly) true in some cases. But still, it always reminds me of how, even when conceived by women, there's this old-school male voice behind most advertising (can totally see David Ogilvy, pipe in hand, musing over these).
