Super Bowl XL, halftime show

That Sons & Daughters promo just made a joke about Hitler. Sorry folks, but despite the success of The Producers, that ain't cool.
  8:06 p.m.
Note to AdFreak readers: This, uh, review of the Rolling Stones’ performance is very stream of consciousness. Here we go:
“Start Me Up”: Predictable opening song; perhaps too predictable. … I’m looking for old people in the audience at the Rolling Stones gig; it’s a peccadillo of mine … But the Stones logo, particularly Stones1_1now that the “tongue” is rolling up to reveal people, is very cool. … Charlie Watts is better at looking bored than any other living being in the known universe. … And the audio, you can actually hear Mick Jagger sing. Surely this is one of the great technological advancements of the 21st century …What is that doo-dad hanging from Keith Richards’ hair? ... The first song was fairly tame, but they did strike the lyric “You make a dead man come.” (UPDATE: ABC apparently put the Stones on tape delay. I shoulda thought of that.)
“Rough Justice”: Now we’re into the obligatory song from the new album (I think it is anyway—I just know it’s not “Sympathy f or the Devil.”) But no one bought the album so who cares? … God help me. Even though I don’t know what the doo-dad is that’s hanging from Richards’ hair, I’m still just so awed and grateful that he’s still alive.
“Satisfaction”: Mick Jagger has stripped down, and he is another miracle of modern science, but not cuz he looks like hell and is still alive, but because he’s so freakin’ old and looks great. (As long as you don’t pay attention to the wrinkles.) … Uh oh, Keith Richards just coughed. Is this a sign of The End? … Oh good, he’s back hanging with his twin brother: Ron Wood. … OK, now Jagger is starting to bother me; he was just waving his arms like a chorus girl. … Haven’t seen any old people yet, except for the one’s on stage, but hope springs eternal.
It’s over. No wardrobe malfunctions. No deaths of band members. All in all, a good show. And more edgy than Paul McCartney.

you say that the audio was good for the first song, it wasn't, he was out for almost half the first song, and the tounge reavealing people was way cool.

Love Jagger and gang, just not for SuperBowl XL.

Tell me which is more offensive:

A sixy-year old man gyrating his hips like a drunk sorority chick at a frat party or Janet Jackson's nipple?

I think I puked in mouth a little bit.

I love the rolling stones but that had to be the absolute worst concert they have ever performed! The band was not together and Mick was way off of everyone!

Mick Jagger and the Stones were about the lamest ass halftime show I've ever seen at the Bowl. Right in the middle of Motown and they bring in this old haggardly looking fool to sing and he sounded like a dead dog.

They should have had The Temptations do it.

I think it's safe to say the stones did not audition for this show. Perhaps, Mick was favored by the DEA as a case study of the long-term side effects of drugs. Furthermore, this performance finally proved that eventually a rolling stone does gather moss. Shame on you for calling this show good... legends weren't made to return. It's like throwing Ali back into the ring!

worst halftime performance at a superbowl not involving a member of the jackson family. should have started the set with "mothers little helper" (what a drag it is getting old). bet ticket brokers are hoping no one watched. paul revere and the raiders probably put on a better show at a floating casino. did the stones really hold hands and bow at the end? they should have run and hid.

I thought the Stones were great, especially Mick.

I am so sick of hearing how old they are, so what it is just a number. Love the Stones!!

Sorry doris, you're turning this into an age thing. Had he of been 25 and performed like that, he would have still sucked.

Most of you can't appreciate the solid Rock N Roll performance of the Stones. They're kickin ass in their sixties. Rock n Roll is not supposed to be neat and clean. Lyrics aren't meant to be heard clearly and definately not interpreted. Here's something different; The Stones were REALLY playing. The acts in the past were performing to piped in music and computerized drums you American Idol fans.
It's a credit to their ages that they can perform so well. Why not get a younger act? Because most music sucks these days. Why not a motown act? They didn't age as well as the Stones. Make fun of their drug use. How many of you are going to be in as good a physical condition when your 62. I'm sure most of you aren't in that kind if shape now! Anyway the Stones were tight. I would have preferred they played Midnight Rambler. But they're stuck having to play the songs everyone Knows. I loved it. I'm glad most people still appreciate real Rock N Roll!

When I saw that . . . I was just weirded out. I mean I like the Rolling Stones because my Dad listened to them when he was a kid, but . . . no. I thought it was a half an hour by the time they were done singing that song! Him in that outfit though . . . Noooooooot the best outfit for a guy his age.

ok so maybe the rolling stones didnt perform to their best ability. that does not make them bad. and as for the age thing, so what if they r old they can still rock on. they are only gaining fans, im 16 and they are my favorite group so that just shows that they canappeal to all ages.plus i was told that if u were actually at the super bowl they were amazing.

I am soooooooo sorry to the stones fans who have to listen to these people insult you because your not exactly the figures of youth but in and out to all the stones performances I've been to,6 and I'm only 11!, I thought they were awsome as always!!!Oh yea, and thank you to whoever said "...Because most music sucks these days..." I salute you! in short ... THE STONES RULE!!!
