There’s nothing quite like ‘Live free or die’

Nh_license_plate2New Hampshire’s “Live free or die” may be coolest state motto of them all. It’s much more bad-ass than, for example, “You’re going to love it here.” Officials in New Hampshire tried putting that wussy new phrase on highway-welcome signs recently, and the backlash has been swift. “Right now, every time I go past those things I’m embarrassed,” the state senate majority leader said last week. Gov. John Lynch feels the same way, even though he one championed the new signs. “It’s true,” he said. “I want to be there when they take out the first one.” The state senate passed a bill Thursday to require “Live free or die” on all highway-welcome signs.

Everything was fine until Bostonians moved into Southern NH and were amazed that the zeitgeist differed from MA. No sales or income taxes and schools as crappy as you want them to be. Like Republican governors in MA, NH needs to be there to balance the rest of New England.

Today, I got stopped for a random search on the subway and I saw a homeless guy get taken away for sleeping on the sidewalk. I guess we'd all be dead if we lived in New Hampshire.

I'm leaving Massachusetts and have decided to the Free State Project in an effort to restore truth, freedom and liberty in New Hampshire. I lived here for 6 years long ago. It is just too bad I had to wait so ling to smarten up. The people in the state (excepting few misinformed) seem to be welcoming the participant/activists with open arms as they understand the threat that the Federal Government poses to their lives and though they may not fully grasp it (southern NH Mass overflow you speak of) see the violence and oppression that is the only product the big government can possibly produce.
If you decide to join us, then welcome with open arms. Welcome home.
Thank you for your article. My hat is off to you.

In Liberty,

Kurt Freeman
