Mutant dog helps sell new Kodak camera

Kodakdog2Kodak gets the award for creepiest advertising image of the week, using this frightening mutant dog to sell its new dual-lens EasyShare V570 camera. In the world of photography, a camera with two lenses, one above the other, is apparently some sort of breakthrough. In the world of genetics, though, this would seem to be a pretty major step backward. When I saw this image in a magazine over the weekend, I actually wondered if the camera were somehow engineered specifically to photograph freaks of nature. Or maybe the dog, with his unexpected and special face, is supposed to be the one taking the pictures. It’s just disturbing all around.

I agree. They should know better than to mess with man's relationship with dogs. Given growth of market in selling to adoring dog owners, this is really stupid. After Comedy Central gave us post-nuclear cyclopses, I guess this was inevitable. You can bet that the Japanese, (who have been eating our lunch in photographic sales), would not have done this, (and they like a disturbing image on occasion).

It's a joke. Lighten up.

Tim said, "one lens above the other is apparently some sort of breakthrough." So, he didn't like the picture but he got the point - have you ever seen a digital camera with two lenses? I have not. It's kind of a mutant design - but it is very cool. It doesn't look like anything else and I think that is the point. I bought one and I have to say Kodak has been a lot more inventive than anything the Japanese have come up with.

And as far as weird and disturbing, the Japanese have got thatmarket cornered.

Read Akinari's "The Blue Hood". It makes this pooch look like Benji.

Sorry but i think this is just a computer generated image, no need to panic over it!!!

Nobody was arguing that it was a real dog, actually. People are complaining that 1) the picture is too disturbing to be effective or 2) the camera's not that special. Those answers are up in the air.
