Boggs, Johnnie Walker fight drunk driving
I happened to flip on the YES network last night and caught a few innings of Game 6 of the 1996 World Series between the Yankees and the Braves. It was great to see Wade Boggs, getting on toward the twighlight of a grand career, finally winning a World Series. Flash forward 10 years, and what is Wade Boggs doing today, as the Yankees celebrate their home opener? He’ll be standing near the steps to the 4 train on 161st Street, handing out Johnnie Walker “Keep walking” MetroCards. It’s for a good cause (to fight drunk driving), and Boggs is a good egg for braving the crush of Yankee fans outside the stadium. (Isn’t he wearing a Red Sox uniform in the Hame of Fame?) As part of this initiative, Johnnie Walker will donate $100 to Recording Artists, Actors, and Athletes Against Drunk Driving (RADD) every time a Yankee player draws a walk at Yankee Stadium this season.
