‘Ooh, nice tool!’ says Planned Parenthood

Tool Here’s a stylish, rock ’n’ roll TV spot for Planned Parenthood Golden Gate in which a young woman really knows how to use the various tools at her disposal. “My father always told me to use the right tool for the right job,” she says. The moment where her blue work shirt flies off is particularly amusing. (For what it’s worth, I was able to stream the video via the “Download it” link rather than the “Stream it” link.) A press release sent out this morning by the American Life League carries the somewhat confused headline, “Planned Parenthood’s TV Commercial Raises the Bar for the Depths of Depravity.” A rep there clarifies: “The ad is beyond disgusting. The entire scenario is wrought with sexual innuendo regarding the connection between power tools and sexual performance.” Yes, but it’s also about using condoms.

I don't know about "beyond disgusting" (it's no thumb in the eye), but it's a little creepy that the only line is her talking about her dad before she hops in the sack.

Keep up the great blogging, guys. This site is a highlight of my day.

At about 6 seconds into the spot, I get focused on the fact that she totally ruins that piece of wood she is drilling.

Clearly they had it pre-drilled almost all the way, and just wanted her to "finish the job" on camera, but she basically just pushes her way through and the wood splinters.

I then stop believing that this character actually knows anything about tools.

I am greatly disturbed by this until she starts stripping.

you read my mind Basil... would it have been so hard to have found a woman who knows how to wield power tools? otherwise very cute

i just want to say that she did drill through it completely. the drill sucked and she spent about 3 minutes trying to get through a 2x4. she was awesome with the tools. it took her only 5 minutes to get up to speed on them. watch her with the grinder, and that jackhammer is actually running. i just wanted to give her props. :D
