Cuervo to unleash colorful tequila pushers

Cuervo If you live in New York, Chicago or San Francisco, you’ll be battling for taxi cabs this Thursday with a bunch of fools done up in full-body paint. They are invading those cities to celebrate something called National Flavors Day, which sounds like a legitimate holiday but is actually a marketing ploy concocted by Jose Cuervo to introduce three new Cuervo Flavored Tequilas: Citrico, Oranjo and Tropina. According to the press release, these alien creatures will “pour onto the streets … to spread the message of National Flavors Day during various commuter times to inquisitive onlookers.” Whether inquisitive turns to angry may depend on whether these colored drones hog all the cabs or not. National Flavors Day, the release says, “serves as a reminder to celebrate summer’s thrills and endless possibilities in a bold, adventurous and outgoing way.” It also sounds like an excuse to get good and wasted.

This is absolutely wretched. I reserve that word for occasions like this. I'll bet those people in body paint are not even actors, but the creatives themselves. Cheaper that way. Ugh. Please, will people who are not creative just fire themselves now?

Wow. That Marketing minor's really starting to pay off for someone over there at Cuervo. The flip-flops are an extra-special classy touch. 'Cause all the kids are wearing 'em these days.

The beauty is, no matter what color those indignantly cheery tequila pushers are painted, they'll still bleed red. Go ahead & try to take my cab, color boy.

I saw a threesome of these characters walking around Rockefeller Center yesterday. No one was talking to them, but they were having a great time talking to each other. I tried to get a closer look at the (brochure, I think) they were holding, but I never did - nor did they notice my interest. Surprising how much these people did NOT stand out in a crowd.

I'm sorry to hear you all didn't enjoy what we had done yesterday. I think it was a cool idea and you all are not the brightest.

I saw three different trios around Bryant Park yesterday and wondered if the client/agency actually saw what they were paying for. Yikes!!!! (and not in a good way)

Seven of the nine had bodies that shouldn't be publicly seen in minimal clothing, paint or no paint, especially if they're supposed to be positively representing a brand.

Two of the trios were huddled together, talking to no one but themselves. One of the girls had her arms crossed over her chest and was yelling "It's so f@#cking cold!!! out here" repeatedly to her co-workers. Only one of the groups I saw was actually interacting with passersby or handing anything out, albeit pretty half-heartedly.

Perhaps a cool idea, but execution totally lacking (at least with the three groups I saw).

I worked on this project as a lead body painter. When I was called for it very last minute I suggested a really cool body painting of less bodies But in Very amazing body painted designs would have much more of an effect But their design concept was written in stone already. All the people getting painted were fantastic to work with, I know the morning shift was saying it was cold and yes if you were walking around the city in nothing but a bathing suit, You'd realize how cold it was.
While the solid color concept didn't strick any fancy with my creative talents, The goal I think was to simply represent the Flavors in large numbers of painted people. ( i had no parat of the concept of the project rather just the getting bodies done part in the concept given to us)
All of the painters were fantastic to get them all done in a short amount of time . 250 bodies were painted in a course of 5 hours total with only 20 body painters, in my opinion that was amazing it was done.
I look forward to working with both MFA and Jose Cuervo in the future, Hopefully by doing a true body painting and not just a simple color over a body.
