More dead celebrities, this time from GM

Gm_then_and_now_1 Last week, we did a post about an Applebee’s commercial featuring dead celeb, Sammy Davis Jr.; now we hear that General Motors is resurrecting Marilyn Monroe and Riddler/celeb impersonator Frank Gorshin in a commercial that picks up where the “Then and Now” spot that aired during the Winter Olympics left off. The commercial from McCann Erickson, which doesn’t yet appear to be online, breaks tomorrow night during Survivor: Panama—Exile Island, and you can read a little more about what GM is saying about it here and here. In the meantime, we’ll just try to figure out what it means when a dead celebrity impersonator impersonates a dead celebrity.

it should also be noted that using the word "bling" in an ad is a dead idea.

I have been seeing a commercial lately which is at least 3 years old. It features an Aussie actor(whose name escapes me), he was a regular as the love interest of Katherine Bell's character on the show JAG. He took his life a few years ago, and this commercial still airs. It's for a cleaning product, or mop of some sort. It's disturbing to see companies profit from the dead.

What a piece of crap. McCann is the GM of adveritsing so they belong together. Two dinosaurs wandering to the tar pit together.

You mean JAG actor Trevor Goddard, who died in 2003 at age 37. I read it was by drug overdose. I don't know the spot you are referring to, but that should be taken off the air.
