Tequila staffers blazing a trail to Nashville
Following the path of the Beverly Hillbillies from California back to Tennessee, Deb Pasquale (née Berger) demonstrated her eternal love and devotion to TBWA\Chiat\Day unit Tequila by getting married in Nashville last week ahead of the agency’s office opening there. “Like Las Vegas, there’s no waiting period in Nashville [for weddings],” says Pasquale, Tequila’s director of integrated services. “We were on vacation. We’re building a home there. So we figured, since we wanted to elope anyway, we’d tack on an extra day and get married.” Tequila is opening in Nashville to service Nissan, which itself is moving its U.S. base from L.A. to Nashville. Tennessee may seem like a tough sell for L.A. agency people, but the housing market has people excited, Pasquale says. “The two hot neighborhoods are Brentwood, which is something like Orange County”—read: nice, clean, conservative neighborhood with single-family homes—“and lofts in downtown Nashville. And it’s a friendly place. People are so frickin’ nice there!” Of course, they may not be so nice if they start blaming Hollywood carpetbaggers for running up housing prices and ruining Nashville forever. “They can’t do this to us here in Nashville!” they’ll yell. “Let’s show them what we’re made of. Come on everybody, sing!”

You haven't lived until you've gone honky-tonkin' in Nashville. Start with Tootsies Orchid Lounge on a Saturday night. Bring your dollars for the band.

I would just like to add to anyone reading that I have a lovely cottage in West Nashville--minutes from anywhere you'd want to be--for sale for the right price. Bring the housing boom on, LA people! Woo-hoo!
