Come to our Indian safari and lose a limb

Maneland I don’t know if this ad ever ran anywhere, but it certainly is weird. It advertises the Maneland Jungle Lodge, a safari retreat in a part of India that’s the “last and only home of the Asiatic Lion, a majestic animal who doesn’t hide from visitors.” Nor, it would appear, does it hide from the Maneland staff. See three more executions here, here and here. Via Cool LOking Ads.

And losing 40 percent of a limb is the new 30.

It's all about getting noticed and remembered in advertising. With todays ad blindness (people don't notice advertisements anymore) you have to be very creative to get noticed and remembered. I guess it doesn't really matter what you have to say as long as it causes a reaction.

Well, getting noticed and remembered is all well and good, but I think if I shit on your shoes, Andre, I'd probably achieve both goals. Doesn't mean you'd buy my product. (BTW, I certainly don't HATE these particular ads. They're kinda okay in an over-the-top way. I'm just tired of people saying getting noticed is the only goal of advertising.)
