using snoop in commercials is not cool, ad people. he has been marginalized beyond belief by our industry.

can't knock the man for hustling.
it's no different than any other overused celebrity (jon lovett, jason alexander, william shatner, etc.).

My guess: they wanted Luke from 2 Live Crew (or similarly dirty mouthed rapper), client loved the idea, but found Snoop more "consumer-friendly," and the team got stuck with Snoop.

Hey Tim, You sound like an elitist. Snoop doesn't have any "business" being in an Orbit commercial? According to whose poetics? And since when has Snoop been "overused," HighJive. I mean, let's get more specific about why Snoop doesn't "belong."

Well, perhaps “overused” is not the best word. But Snoop has appeared in ads for Chrysler, T-Mobile, XM Satellite Radio, Pony shoes, Girls Gone Wild, Snoop Dogg Clothing and more. And now Orbit chewing gum. He’s also popped up in numerous films, videos, games and ringtones — and he even had his own tv series. Plus, the man runs a pee-wee football league. I think he does belong. Despite his gangsta persona (which usually frightens typical clients), Snoop’s been embraced by a variety of advertisers and an international audience. (And he has been overused by folks seeking to get a quick laugh off some variation of fa-shizzle.)

Is that what he was selling? I thought it was a Jacko ad for hair replacement.

My eyes glazed over a bit when I saw Snoop, that's all. Maybe it's just me.

AOL too.
I'm crossing my fingers in hopes of the Lady Snoop line of feminine hygiene products.

Honestly, having Snoop (or the goat) call your friends is really amazing. I love the idea. Really fun stuff. Snoop being overused? Maybe. But he does add something cool to this ad. It's funny and he is old skool. Kudos.

This is kinda of stupid but whatever. People are just using Snoop in their adds to get attention and people to buy their stuff, and ppl r buying it just bc a BIG celeberity is advertising it! That just tells me that they cant sell their product without havin a big celeb help them...
Think about it!
