Are New Yorkers ready for a new Dr. Z?

Drz_1 We’re not posting much today due to the holiday, but we have to mention Chrysler’s new ad campaign, “Ask Dr. Z,” which kicked off this weekend, starring the company’s German chairman, Dieter Zetsche, as spokesman. It includes all sorts of offline advertising, as well as a Web site, AskDrZ.com, where Zetsche (or a cartoon version of him) will answer your questions about Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles. Dieter is a cool guy; he’s the only German white man alive who occasionally speaks like Snoop Dogg. But how will the campaign play in New York City, which has a famous advertising Dr. Z of its own—the chemical-peel specialist Jonathan Zizmor?

Neither of these men is the real Dr. Z.

who cares who the real dr. z is? the new campaign from daimler/chrysler is terrible. you can't understand half of what their dr. z says. not a good idea given that the campaign is supposed to give consumers reasons why the merger was a good idea in the first place. i didnt' realize he was actually the german chairman. at least that explains why they used him. still, a bad choice.

Quirky and well-executed. I think the campaign do well if people invest a few moments to get to know the doc.

Next time I have a torn earlobe, I will take the subway to the nearest Chrysler dealer. Thanks for the tip!

Why should I "invest a few moments to get to know the doc?" I barely have enought time to be snarky on Adfreak.

I saw it and figured it was for Dr Zizmore as well.

Dr. Z should sue the Chrysler guys until they look like the "before" picture.

Dr Z is now working at Lowe.

Who allowed the fucking krauts to buy the goddamn company that made all the trucks and jeeps and landing craft that drove the bastards back across the Rhine chasing all those rickety Daimlers?
