Crispin working on Burger King film script

Bklogo Just what all you Crispin-heads have been waiting for: the Crispin Porter + Bogusky movie. Creatives at the Miami agency, led by Alex Bogusky, are reportedly scripting a Burger King-themed movie—a dramedy (perhaps) that takes place in an apartment above a BK restaurant. They’re aiming for something that’s more Garden State than American Pie, more What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? (or, theoretically, What’s Gilbert Grape Eating?) than Dude, Where’s My Car? (The King mascot will have “no real role in the movie,” so there goes any hope for The King: Portrait of a Serial Killer.) Crispin plans to begin shooting this fall and is shopping the project to 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures. The agency would take a cut of the box office if the film makes enough money.

This wouldn't be a press release now, would it?

Please leave entertaining to the entertainment industry, and let movies remain movies. Must advertising agencies get their hands on every available medium?

I've spent years nursing a script that takes place entirely in a Waffle House. Then I saw that a contributor to the Oxford American was writing an opera based in the Waffle House. I thought about upping the ante with a Klingon opera in a Waffle House, but I just couldn't man up to the challenge.

My guess is they thought they could leverage public sentiment towards Brokeback Mountain. It would explain the whole "King that wakes up in bed with a member of the Village People" bit. Hasn't CPB marginalized this brand enough?

Gee, I can wait. What a waste of time and money.

This movie could be bigger than Mac and Me.

How does this agency get PR for simply saying they're going to attempt to do something? Aren't they the same agency that had an exclusive deal to develop tv shows for Fox? Where are those shows? We should all stop writing about fictitious movies until they are real. Or at least, in production.

Thank you, Joe. Somebody had to say it. I'm glad you did. Forget Subservient Chicken: Crispin's greatest accomplishment is the Subservient Media. Any time anyone there has a bowel movement, it makes headlines in Adweek, Ad Age and Creativity.

3 Words: Mac And Me.
