dude, ellen burstyn has been doing award-worthy work for the past decade. in fact, I think she won the oscar for requiem for a dream, or something like that. get out from under the rock.

ditto; ellen rocked the world in Requiem. she's gold. she could just spit and win the Oscar.

yo, if charlie sheen gets an emmy nod, why not burstyn?

There's nothing wrong with Burstyn; her acting is beside the point.
I just can't believe that so many years after Sally Fields' famous "You like me!" speech at the Oscars, folks are still shocked that awards are simply popularity prizes, corruptly awarded.

Are you people serious? 14 freakin' seconds, for God's sake!
Sure, Ms. Burstyn is talented, but no one is THAT talented.
All any of this proves is that most academy members don't actually see the performances they vote on. They saw the name of a great actress on the ballot and put a check (or chad or whatever these people do to vote) next to her name.

no, seriously, if Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally get emmy nods, why not Burstyn?

one more thing to consider:
tv commercials are eligible to win emmys, and most are only 15 seconds longer than burstyn's performance.
