Aspen takes on global warming

Aspen The Denver Post is reporting that print ads promoting the upcoming ski season at Aspen won't talk about skiing so much as global warming. The story says that holding company Aspen Skiing, which owns Buttermilk, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands and Aspen, isn't releasing the ads yet, but that they will appear in October issues of Ski and Outside. While taking down huge swaths of trees in the name of skiing may seem antithetical to an environmental advertising message, in March, the resort became the first in Colorado "to offset 100 percent of its electricity use through renewable-energy certificates." We've no idea what that means, but assume it’s a good thing.
