Cash song ‘Hurt’ anchors child-abuse PSA

Brentter points to this hard-hitting Australian PSA about child abuse, featuring Johnny Cash’s version of the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt.” It’s still inconceivable that the “Hurt” video lost at the 2003 VMAs to Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River.”

What a fabulous ad. Interesting that an Australian ad employs the Johnny Cash song, and in such a powerful way. American media would shy away from creating something so realistic about the epidemic of child sexual abuse.

Great ad, weak copy. Doesn't seem to fit with the final concept and feel of the spot.
