Rob Schneider places anti-Mel Gibson ad

Schneiderad_1 I can never get it straight who Rob Schneider is. I even saw him once, heading into MTV with Adam Sandler, back when Adweek had its offices in the Viacom building. Or maybe that was the kid from Silver Spoons. This may not help distinguish him, either. Schneider wants you to know he’s the guy who will never again work with Mel Gibson (or probably not). He takes this courageous stance in an “open letter” that ran in Variety yesterday. (Click image for a readable version.) Of course, the ad is a joke, designed to promote Schneider’s own upcoming movie. But it’s also self-parody. In 2005, Schneider took out a less jokey ad in Variety, in which he ripped into a Los Angeles Times reporter for, of all things, not liking the sequel to Deuce Bigalow. Come to think of it, there’s something that sets Schneider apart. He’s the guy who liked the Deuce Bigalow movies.

What's amusing is that all the news outlets are using it as ammo against Gibson. They're taking it seriously. Which is unsurprising considering the fact that they thought that the Colbert Report where Colbert gets that politician to say "cocaine is fun" was a serious piece of journalism. Sad.

Is Rob Schneider somebody famous? Is he talented?

at least the guy has a sense of humor. Come on, the guy knows he's a punching bag, and that's what makes this ad funny! Of course he'll never work with Mel, because he isn't in the same league!

Rob--with all the vapid stupidity of your movies, the lack of humor, the dumbness, the generally not funniness of your movies--do us a favor can you convert? thanks.

I think that Rob and all the other 'anti-Mel'people should take a good long look at themselves. You know, people who live glass houses shouldn't throw rocks, or how
about, ye who is without sin cast the first
stone? I'm glad they all think they are so
perfect. People make mistakes. Wish I had a
chance to work with Mel Gibson.
