Something’s fishy about Logoworks’ story

Stinkylogo_1 Oh, those wacky Utahns! Let it never be said that the land of Jell-O and ice cream is without its share of bathroom-humor craziness. Seems a company called Logoworks, which does logo redesigns, saw its own billboard redesigned in Salt Lake City. According to the LogoDesign blog, “unknown vandals” changed the headline from “Your logo stinks” to “Your log stinks,” garnering some local publicity. (As far as I can tell, that’s a scatological joke, and not a very good one. If it’s not, it makes no sense.) While LogoDesign spends time describing the considerable effort the vandals must have put in to accomplish their deed, I’m more confused about who might have done it. Given the state’s strange drinking laws (beer limited to 3.2 percent alcohol; “intention of eating” required to get a drink in a restaurant), it’s unlikely this was a frat-boy prank (it’s also summer). And the paint matched perfectly. In times like these, my money’s on the company defacing its own ad.

I live in Utah, trust me they did this because of the alcohol limits!

Looks like the Six Flags dancing old guy.

They also vandalized a Casino sign to read: Wendover, World's Loosest Sluts. So unless you think that a casino would do that on purpose, I give logoworks the benefit of the doubt.

I agree, there are some companies who stoop low.

Here's another bit on LogoWorks just out this morning - The LogoWorks Straw Man

It wouldn't surprise me if they DID deface their own ad. The company got itself in a lot of trouble last year when a designer discovered that LogoWorks ripped off one of his designs. And his wasn't the only one. (http://www.baddesignkills.com/logoworks/)

LogoWorks has now attempted to spin the saga in their favor by their new "myths" page on their site. So it would hardly surprise me if they defaced their own ad, especially if they turned around and then blamed it on a group of disgruntled professional designers.

Apparently, my punctuation got in the way of the blog's automatic linking. The link I was trying to post is this one:

Why is everyone so paranoid? Maybe someone needed an "o" and didn't think anyone would miss the one on the billboard.
