Who wouldn’t want to dress like this guy?

Dress_mac_01 Justin Long, the Mac from the “Get a Mac” ads, has his vocal supporters (see the comments under this item) who no doubt appreciate his relaxed yet stylish clothing as much as they enjoy his can-do attitude. These fans will be over the moon today thanks to a Web site called LifeClever, which reveals exactly where to buy Justin’s entire outfit (smugness not included), and how much it will set you back. The site describes Justin’s style this way: “Smart, but approachable; informal and casual but not slovenly; a simple color palette of cool blues and greys; minimal, with no visible logos or slogans.” There’s no mention (yet) of how to look like John Hodgman. Via TUAW. UPDATE: McSweeney’s has posted a somewhat amusing article today titled, “Three New Mac Ad Ideas.” Instead of “portly old dweeb” and “smug little twit” (Seth Stevenson’s assessment of the PC and Mac), Tom Batten describes them as “antiquated but sweet” and “effortlessly hip but still harmlessly nerdy.”

Or you could just mug some guy coming out of a co-op.

You must get over your hatred of Justin Long and all things Macintosh.

Your obsession with him is starting to get creepy. Methinks you might have a mancrush on him.

My 2-month-old MacBook shuts down on me randomly 10 times a day (emerging problem among many Macbook buyers, evidently), so for the first time ever, I actually do have a gripe with Apple, whose products I've been buying for years (and will continue to buy, as long as they fix my laptop and don't tell me I've voided my warrantee by self-installing the extra RAM). But these Mac ads came around before that. In any case, if I were to have a mancrush, it'd probably be on Hodgman.

Your mancrush knows no limits Tim. And don't deceive yourself. It's Justin Long you pine for.

You track down mentions of him on McSweeneys. And then rush back here to post them.

I bet you have a picture of him in your cube.
And that you log on to apple.com several times a day just to see him in the commercial.

I've been dressing like that since 1983. I didn't know I was being "relaxed and stylsh, Smart, but approachable; informal and casual but not slovenly." I thought I was just being a Schlump.

Apple should branch out into fashion. iClothes. I can see a lot of ad agency geeks wearing the Jobs Turtleneck. Specially on this site.
