U.K. ad imagines Bush assassination

Bush_2 Here’s a wrap-around cover ad from today’s London Paper, advertising Death of a President, a feature film airing tonight on TV in the U.K. that imagines the assassination of George W. Bush. Spotted in the Flickr stream of Adambowie, who wonders whether people might be confused into thinking that Bush had actually been shot. He asks whether this is “a) a really clever ad; b) not a smart thing for a so-called newspaper to do; or c) all in bad taste anyway.” He votes for “b.”

You just wrote "assassination" and the name of our current President in one blog post.

Keep an eye out for the black helicopters.

"thelondonpaper" is a relatively new freesheet handed out on the streets. I'm sure this contoversial image will have given them a very healthy peak in readership tonight. Given that the ad cover was paid for by Channel 4 I can only imagine they saw this as a win-win. They have no editorial integrity to lose after all ;-)

I am watching Death of a President right now and I haven't seen anything like it. Even though I do not want him dead, you have to remember that he has put to death thousands of people all over the world in the wars he has lead and in Texas when he was governor. I can't wait until he leaves office because then he and the world will be safe.

Tim
Unfortunately, it's usually the good guys that get assassinated. As he's so proud of being a Texan (even though he was born in Greenwich CT) and there seems to be ten guns for anyone dumb enough to live in that shithole, if it does happen, it'll happen at the ranch. Probably after he's started world war III. Don't forget a massive US fleet is scheduled to arrive off the coast of Iran on Oct 21st. It's what they call an "October Surprise!" For more details call Karl Rove at the Whitehouse.

I certainly agree that an ad for a television programme will fool people into thinking that... shudder... the most powerful puppet in the world has been assassinated.

After all, it would be virtually impossible to find out whether it had actually happened.

Cretin.

Frankly, it would be a good start. And, equally frankly, someone who purports to be a copywriter and "creative consultant" really should know how to spell "delusional".

Wow! Bold move. Strange how no one really cares or isn't offended though.
