America does have a few cool things after all

Spike A few weeks ago, we posted one of the teaser ads in the U.K. that read, “Nothing good ever came out of America.” Here’s one of the payoff ads. The campaign promotes a U.K. TV channel devoted to American programs. [Photo: I’m $partacus/Flickr.]

It would have been better if they had keep the lineation and size of the headline the same in the teaser and reveal. Then just added the extra words, visual and logos. Just my 2 cents.

"Who says nothing good ever came out of America."

First of all, there should be a question mark at the end of the sentence. (Oh dear, probably showing my age here...)

But worse than bad grammar, it's surely bad copywriting, isn't it?

When you write an ad, you want people to say "yes, that sounds plausible" not "that is wrong, I will no longer pay any attention to your message."

And since everyone has heard of Edison, Google, Roosevelt, Scorsese etc I don't believe anyone would agree with the statement that "nothing good ever came out of America."
