Yet another person you don’t want calling
“Get a call from X” is becoming a common enough advertising gimmick that we’re starting to see a pattern. So far, unsuspecting citizens have been pulled away from everyday tasks to field calls from a) the creepy voice from The Ring, promising death in seven days; b) Snoop Dogg (on behalf of Orbit gum); and now c) Dwight Shrute from The Office. In other words, people you’d really rather not hear from, all things being equal—once again proving that viral marketing is at its best (i.e., its most useful to your so-called “friends”) if they can use it to badger, humiliate and/or generally annoy you.
