Reality show seeks next Lee Clow—women cordially invited to apply

Making_it_big_005_1 So, this production company calls me up to see if I would be interested in serving as a judge on Making it Big, the Oxygen Network reality series that last year, at least, featured Linda Kaplan Thaler as host. I haven't seen the show, but they tell me that each episode features three contenders vying for the top prize— a chance to be "mentored by an icon in their industry." They haven't selected the advertising mentor yet, but past experts have included star chef Daniel Boulud of Daniel's here in New York, VH1 vp Sandy Alouete for the episode on video directors, and Madonna's creative director/choreographer Jamie King. So, if you young agency creatives out there are interested, here is the application. Interestingly, the show's Vancouver production company, Force Four Entertainment, said that so far they have heard from lots of guys but they were a bit disappointed by the surprisingly low number of female applicants. So come on ladies, speak up. If it doesn't turn out to be a career-making chance of a lifetime, there's at least 15 minutes of fame in it for you. According to company exec Nick Baker: "Ideally, we're looking for copywriters who have been working in the industry now for a few years and are still waiting for that big break." Besides this advertising segment, Force Four is also fielding applications for a siinger/songwriter and a television host, so if you're looking for a career change …

Why can't I be mentored without doing the show?

maybe women like me are too demanding.

Waiting to 'make it big' in advertising? Does that mean an agenncy will let a girl work on beer?! WOW! Sign me up!
