How Bank of America rewards its employees

If this is real, it’s one of these best pieces of video ever recorded. All that’s missing is Ricky Gervais doing a harmony part. Via Tom Sherman at The Sherman Foundation.

You people are all completely missing the point. This is hilarious. Anyone who can parody themselves like these two are obviously doing is ok by me. I just can't believe you don't get the joke.

This is hilarious! And much better than when my former employer ruined "Beautiful Day" for me forever at some stupid company pep rally. They didn't even bother to change the lyrics.

I hope this inspires Bono to stop in his activism. It's better that children die than any more of this.

As a current BAC associate, I was moved to tears. Can someone please pass me my daily refill of the Bank of America "Spirit" Kool-Aid and a purple shawl, please ?

Posted by: | Nov 9, 2006 5:45:03 PM

I would SO dump The Captain for this bank nerd with pipes of gold.

If ever there were a perfect argument for casting off corporate serfdom and living the hippie life in Thailand or Nepal and spending your days terrorizing young backpackers with horror stories of office life, this, my friends, is most definitely it.

Oh no. I am at a loss for words. Just think these 2 rehearsed for hours, did practice performances in front of the family. His wife/partner must never want to sleep with him.

i just vomited a little in my mouth.
it could have been from the excessive amount of wine i consumed tonight or this god-awful rendition of one of my favorite U2 songs.

Buying your competition and making yourself seem better than you are $$35 billion in stock and cash.

Ripping off a popular song for mediocre applause priceless.

i showed to my daughter. and she cried. uncontrollably. for those two guys. for their company. for america. what do i tell her now? "honey, it was just pretend. they don't live anywhere near us. they're what's called red necks. they live in a place called north carolina, where brothers and sisters do unholy things to eachother behind the garage, and men put rotten clumps of leaves in their mouth to chew so they can spit brown juice into an empty plastic mountain dew bottle. it's a terrible place i promise you'll never have to visit. maybe if you're real good and say your prayers tonight, god will erase that place, and this horrible, horrible memory by the morning."

Not even clever. Pathetic. I guess this is corporate humor? Get outside people.

Are you guys kidding me? Get a life. Why do you care what they do in their own meetings? How many of us have attended boring humdrum meetings time and again? At least this is a departure from that. I would bet that the people that came out of this meeting (those the song was intended for...not us) were inspired and pumped up and proud to work for BofA.

You guys take yourselves way too seriously to criticize these guys just trying to have a little fun.

Posted by: ABR | Nov 10, 2006 10:30:38 AM

I thought it was sincere, and the guy has a GREAT voice.

Posted by: Lynn | Nov 10, 2006 10:38:32 AM

Here everyone... put on your black Nike sneakers now and were all going to take a powerbanker nap over in Finance.

I think it's appropriate to note that the overpaid corporate weasel guitarist is playing a guitar that most real musicians would never be able to afford... Oh wait! He bought it on the interest rates from real musicians credit card balances! Now I get it! Grace days bloody grace days!

Forget the singing, what is worse, nobody in the audience moves a muscle, nobody even looks at each other, and then a standing ovation!! Beware of the blind submission of this man's follwowers they will carry out his ideas ...... we must never forget !!!!!!

Ayaa! I just switched my Working Assets MBNA visa over to Salmon Nation visa, issued by ShoreBank Pacific, an eco-bank committed to environmentally sustainable community development, w/half the proceeds going to Salmon Nation, a bioregional citizenship program focused on protecting the health of whole watersheds and the economies of the people that live in them. I encourage all my fella MBNA/BofA cardholders to do the same!

Posted by: fishmonger | Nov 10, 2006 9:04:11 PM

He should have smashed the guitar after the song... Its covered by that spiffy buyer protection plan, isn't it?

Posted by: smallbrain | Nov 11, 2006 8:37:22 AM

Nearly as bad as the Halifax adverts with Howard singing 'Saving' (Sailing), 'Extra' (Sex Bomb), 'You're The First, The Last, My Extra Thing'(yeah you get the idea).

Posted by: Sarah | Nov 11, 2006 12:17:27 PM

Pat Benatar was a bank teller, so there’s that.

This song is unintentionally funny, almost as good as Ricky Gervais Office Rules for Microsoft.

For those that ask ‘why are you guys laughing?’ Well, a major financial institution hijacked a popular song and used it as internal atta-boy/go-get 'em/rah-rah sales tool. They do that shit all the time.

Fine. If you like stuff like that and didn't cringe at it, well then, that's why you're financial people – and we’re not.

Posted by: makethelogobigger | Nov 11, 2006 12:20:29 PM

You're all a bunch of idiots,

Why rip this guy apart for a)having a pretty fucking good voice and b) having the balls to sing infront of his company and not freak out even one bit?

Yes, the fact that it was for, duh duh dunnnnnn "corporate business" is lame but they re-wrote the lyrics and also did a pretty god job at that.

So there! Open your minds a little and stop hating people and organizations that you are to fat/dumb/lazy to be able to emulate or be a part of.

Posted by: Gyi2os | Nov 11, 2006 12:55:42 PM

i bet he's lip syncing...

Posted by: slaphappy | Nov 11, 2006 12:55:42 PM

This is real. I do a ton of video for the Bank. The bank-ese language is too authentic and correct to be fake. Plus, I've taped worse murderings of popular songs by Bankers...

Posted by: John John | Nov 11, 2006 4:47:36 PM

That guy's a twat.

Posted by: Larry Mullen Jr. | Nov 11, 2006 8:44:48 PM

Dear GyiZos, I think you mean
"TOO fat/dumb/lazy..." Judging from the video, fat/dumb don't keep you from working for BofA, and "Not lazy" is about the nicest thing that could be said about that piece of trash, but that would be misleading.

If you're going to write a song about a bank merger, that's fine, but please, please, please set it an original score. Considering how much they paid the bankers and lawyers, one lyricist wouldn't have broken the budget.

Instead what we have here is two middle aged fat guys singing/beating the crap out of/destroying a lazy rip-off of an otherwise great song - dumb.

Posted by: rock bottom | Nov 12, 2006 12:53:28 AM

reminds me of The Office. Although i was moved by the fact "we'll make lots of money" beautiful.

Posted by: cornhulio | Nov 12, 2006 3:18:04 AM

This is so gay. I bet they went home and made out.

Posted by: Steven Kind | Nov 12, 2006 8:21:23 AM

I don't know, but think it's a funny idea... and at least his voice is not the worst I have ever heared... so I applaude :-)

Posted by: Paulus | Nov 12, 2006 8:35:36 AM
