‘Simpsons’ teaser trailer is recycled humor

Simpsons_2 There’s a new teaser trailer out for the film version of The Simpsons. It starts out by poking fun at its own unsophisticated animation, which is what the South Park guys did in 1999 with the teaser trailer for their film. Then we see Homer getting pummeled between a rock and a hard place. There’s still no confirmed plot for the movie, although at one point James L. Brooks remarked, “It’s been rough. We worked at it for a long time and then found out that Snakes on a Plane was doing the same story.”

The Simpsons have chunks of those South Park guys in their stool.

Necessary critique by needlessly thorough fan:

On December 3, 1995 The Simpsons aired an episode entitled The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular. In the episode, a joke is made about the quality of animation in The Simpsons. This is 4 years before the South Park Movie ever came out, and 2 years before the series even came out. If anything, The Simpsons are recycling their own jokes.
