Remake the ‘Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz’ song

Alka “Plug in your electric guitars, dust off the drums and sing your way into American History!” That’s the promo copy for Alka-Seltzer’s new ‘Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz’ contest, in which consumers with dreams of rock stardom (or at least commercial stardom) are asked to send in new versions of the classic ad jingle. “Using ‘Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is’ in at least one of the verses, competitors are challenged to remake the song using their own original music,” says the Web site. You can refresh your memory of the original jingle here. Four entrants will get $1,000, plus a chance at $10,000 and, possibly, their song in a new commercial. Judging by the graphic, they want blistering underwater guitar solos.
