Chevy’s boring Super Bowl ad challenge
Why do I find this Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge so
annoying? Maybe it’s the enthusiasm the kids have for being
chosen as finalists. It’s only advertising, kiddos—go join the Peace Corps and do something with your life! Or maybe it’s that the episodes posted at the site, which
are meant to play out like a miniature reality series, are so boring that I’m
guessing they will appeal only to the family and friends of the chosen. (The excitable folks at the Savannah College of Art & Design are shown here.) Or
maybe I’m just burnt out on consumer-generated media. At any rate, now that I’ve
written such a tantalizing summary, be sure to tune in when episode three is uploaded on Friday.

Is it me or do these contests just reaffirm the need for advertising agencies?

"It’s only advertising, kiddos—go join the Peace Corps and do something with your life!"
Funny. That's how I felt after reading last year's WK12 posts.
Maybe we should get these kids some racoon pelts. Then you'd love 'em!
