Get me an iPhone! Pronto!

Iphone_1 I want an Apple iPhone. Right now. I cannot survive another moment on this mortal coil without one. It's a cellphone/iPod/Macintosh hybrid. Sort of. It's got lots of cutting-edge features that will usher in the next era of the digital revolution. I think it even folds out into a gyrocopter or battery-powered car. Yesterday, a few hours after its introduction, iPhone had already garnered 1,684 mentions on Google News. Nancy Pelosi had 79. Numbers like that don't lie—the iPhone is BIG, people! There's a force field and laser beam built in. Or else, there will be—in version 2.0. Jobs is working on it. In fact, iPhone has the power to cloud people's minds; that's how Steve's managed to avoid an indictment over the whole options thing. (The company's iPhone-powered stock surge got 1,690 mentions. Jobs' potential legal problems ... a mere 29.) Look: the product hasn't actually shipped, but I'm fairly sure iPhone can feed the hungry and cure sickness. It also prints money. And grants wishes. I'm sure the specs mentioned a cloak of invisibility. It also gives users eternal life. And youth. Plus the ability to travel through time and return it for a full refund. Not that anyone would ever dream of taking an iPhone back. One thing's for sure: no matter what it actually does, it's already a lot cooler than Microsoft's Zune—which got 46 mentions, just in case anybody cared.

Yeah, and those mentions of the Zune were probably along the lines of "iPhone is so much better than the Zune."

...or "iPhone is so much better then EVERYTHING right now." amazing!

Mr. Jobs of pre-iPod era wasn't about infomercials, was he? In flatland that keynote was one of those tshirts with the back covered with corporate sponsors.

Either that presentation yesterday was somebody's corporate speak, maybe even Microsoft's

and/ or quite possibly,

if it was the real Steve, he needs help to invent this thing to get out of the space he is in.

Signed,
Nancy

Apple treats their customers exactly the same way a crack dealer treats his.

No one is talking about battery life on this thing, the specs at The Apple Store say UP to 5 Hours, that is probably on Standby not talk time. This could very much be Apple's 21st Century version of The Newtwon. I'm waiting a couple of generations before I plunk down $600 bucks for a phone that might last til noon every day if I don't continue to recharge

Mr. Bunny,

I got a better idea. Besides a screen, find a real bunny, have a honest to good face to face conversation where you can see the light shining through his/her eyes, respectively. ~mate.

@Duracell Bunny

Oh please stop making a fool out of yourself. As Jobs clearly said on the keynote and is CLEARLY stated on iPhone tech specs page, 5 hours is TALK / VIDEO / WEB BROWSING time, NOT standby time.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/technology/specs.html

Standby time was one of those things not mentioned during the keynote, but there's nothing shabby about 5 hours talk time for any phone, much less 5 hours of video playback.

Actually Apple is a little late to the party with multi-tasking high tech devices.

For those who remember, this came from Swillmart ("Where quality is just a slogan.") years ago...

I agree with you Paul. Five hours is the average for all cell phones or similar devices right now.

'Apple treats their customers exactly the same way a crack dealer treats his.'

I'm not too convinced about battery life specially with a device that does all those things. I think the iPhone 2.0 will have either longer battery or a detachable battery so you can have a spare (but I'm not holding my breath on that, since it'd be an Apple first).

8GB at most. I think iPhone 2.0 will improve greatly on that.

Cingular as only carrier. I had Cingular in NY, unfortunately, I had to change when I moved to Chicago. Cingular's coverage in Chicago is simply awful. I'd gladly spend more money on an unlocked iPhone.

Will the screen scratch? Get all greasy? Be able to work when it rains? Hmm... If any of those problems surface, I bet iPhone 2.0 will fix it.

So go ahead, early adopters. You still have 6 months to drool over the iPhone. I think I have about a year.

And about the Zune... That thing made Microsoft look bad. Really bad. I'd euthanise that ill-conceived thing to avoid more embarrassments.

OMG, I am so with you. I totally want one. I just hope that the duct tape around my video Ipod and my treo will hold until June!

Preach it!

I m sure Steve Jobs is making mock-ups of the newspapers due to get out next January:
STEVE JOBS TOPS BILL GATES AND BECOMES THE RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD.

Imagine if this puppy had games? And the Mac TV? Another miss by Apple.

Now, Cingular got such a sweet deal...

Why wait until June when you cn get one now and for free.

maybe it's just me reading into things but this article seemed a bit sarcastic, which i can only hope is true. i was done with the hype of this thing about 10 minutes after it was announced. what's with people claiming this is a life altering device when nobody can even buy one? wait till you get one in your hot little hands and use it before you pass judgement.

and comparing this to the zune? come on! why don't you compare apples to oranges while you're at it (pun intended). they are two completely different products aimed at different market segments people. get a life already and pull you head out of the ass of steve jobs.
