Orville Redenbacher to rise from the dead

Orville2 So, Crispin Porter + Bogusky has digitally recreated Orville Redenbacher, bespectacled head to wing tip toe, for a new commercial directed by David Fincher that will first appear on the Golden Globes. (The picture here is from an old spot he did with his grandson.) He’s popped back from the grave, as it were. Though such puns are beneath us. About six feet beneath. As for who could be next, well ... Brando, Elvis, Marilyn, John Lennon, the other Lenin ... take your pick. (Oh, wait, hasn't that already happened?) But why stop at dead celebs? Let’s digitally remaster Paris and Britney while we’re at it. And can we please include their underwear and expand their vocabulary while we’re at it?

This is going to be so good for Brazil, Indiana, too.

Imagine who is dead that the public thinks is alive and making clips. And that bit about porn?

Wow, think how much money and blackmail could be had enough to finance a a a...

Whenever I see dead people, I think, mmmm, I could sure go for some hot buttered popcorn.

These ads absolutely suck.

anyone who touched this ad should be fired.

They stunk when they were made and are no better. If they succeed i am surprised as they have no kitsch but plenty of crap.

I am going to buy this product why?

I think this new ad was awesome. It was definitely a bit weird to see Orville again, but the amount of entertainment I've gotten out of watching this thing and sharing it with my friends is great!

Make more!

Why pay actors anymore? Why not just create flawless "people" and use them for commecials, movies, etc. How would that effect Hollywood?

Pathetic. The guy's dead, and his digital likeness is poorly done and creepy.

I love the product, and I'll continue to buy it. I don't buy a product based on its advertising.

I hate these ads so much that i will seriously never purchase this popcorn again (immature of me perhaps but i am not kidding). Beyond the fact that the likeness looks terrible (and as Don stated, creepy), the humor in one of them (orville reden Bees) SUCKS! It just simply is not funny. PLUS it really sounds like he says God's name in vain when he spills the shit all over the place. David Fincher is my Favorite Director and i have to refuse to believe that he had anything to do with the piece of shit ads. I hope that Orville does infact come back from the dead to beat the hell out of whoever made the decision to create this crap.

The humor in these spots may be just a tad lame, but the spots did grab my attention and I definitely did a doubletake seeing ol' Orville again. But hearing the voice tipped me off that it it wasn't O.R (for all the technical magic, the voice talent certainly wasn't well cast).... In truth, I didn't immediately pick up on the fact that it was a digi-clone; I thought it was someone in lots of foam prosthetic makeup. My overall take on the spots: weird but not offensive. TV commercial advertising is rapidly becoming pointless and obsolete anyway as technology makes it easier and easier for Joe Average to skip commercials altogether.
