What do you think of the Super Bowl logo?

Superbowlxlilogo Here’s the official logo for Super Bowl XLI, to be played a week from Sunday in Miami. As usual for a Super Bowl logo, it attempts to say something about the host city. Here, the connection is pretty basic—an orange-and-blue color scheme to emphasize Miami’s sunny ocean setting. The logo also reminds us this is a sporting event by including a football in the corner and making the ‘i’ in the Roman numeral into an end-zone pylon. (Last year’s logo, for the game in Detroit, included the words Super Bowl set in what was supposed to look like an odometer.) The official theme this year is “One game. One dream,” stressing that Miami is something of a dreamlike destination. Here’s a link to all of the Super Bowl logos in history. How does the new one stack up?

They used Gator colors, which is an homage to me, as well as an indication that the NFL wants me to jump ship and come coach in the big show.

Methinks they need to drop the roman numerals.

I think that the "SUPER BOWL" should be shifted to the background and let the roman numerals be in front...smaller size...they are for the identification right! ... i have designed sports logos some suggestions if u check out my URL ...

I need your thoughts ...

I wouldn't have known what an end-zone pylon was... I just thought it was odd that the I looked different from the other letters. I'm guessing I'm not their target, though...

A logo that's safe, tries to be 60's retro and one that would look great on any brand packaging that wants to tie in with the NFL but not compete with the product.

Basically, it's more brand white noise.

Looks like the size tag for a Big and Tall clothing.. seriously I think when it comes to roman numerals the public only recognizes three, X, V, and I. Once you start throwing other letters into the mix it confuses the public.. ok well maybe only me.

a former instructor of mine named Dan Simon has done a few of these logos ('00 to '02). He's a great logo illustrator/designer and can be reached at Studio Simon of Louisville, KY. You're on your own for contact info...

As someone who is the same age as the Super Bowl, that logo always has some significance to me. Being reminded that I was turning "XL" last year did not help ....

I know that team taking over Miami that is orange and blue. And it's not a reptile.

I also didn't know what an end-zone pylon was and thought it was strange that the I didn't have serifs.
