Blue Shield and Yahoo! lose their heads
Two odd creative approaches have cropped up: Blue Shield of California is placing street booths in several cities with cut-out holes for people to poke their heads through and tell tales of health-insurance mismanagement. Meanwhile, Yahoo! intends to launch a musical newscast. (Perhaps owing to the competitive nature of the online search wars, Yahoo! honchos neglected to Google “Cop Rock” or Adam Sandler’s “Opera Man”.) Both the Blue Shield and Yahoo! ideas are ... interesting. Why not combine the two and make consumers sing their woes? There’s great crossover potential for American Idol (imagine Simon, Paula and Randy inside the booth, judging) and Grey’s Anatomy (the doctors can give tips on staying healthy and how to look great in scrubs).
