Enjoy credit-card debt in the game of Life

Life1 Visa’s tagline, “Life takes Visa,” is now doubly true—Life the board game now takes Visa the debit card. Just like recent versions of Monopoly, Hasbro’s new “Twists and Turns” edition of Life replaces paper money with a Visa swipe card and electronic pod that stores players’ financial data. Sounds chilling, like a training kit for tomorrow’s consumers. But Hasbro insists the object of the game is not just to accumulate money but also “life points” from purchasing life experiences. This assumes, of course, that worthwhile “life experiences” can, in fact, be purchased. I checked Equifax: My credit score’s too low to play. I’ll stick to Monopoly, where at least you can get out of jail free.

ok, that was a bit excessive. Cash is out. Cards are in. Debit doesn't equal credit.

In early 2008, MONOPOLY fans from around the world voted for the global cities that they would like to see represented on the first- ever World edition game board. More than 5 million votes were cast during the voting period to determine the 22 cities that will be featured on the game board. The results of the worldwide vote will be announced in August 2008. The new MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition will be available in stores around the world in Autumn 2008.
