Stefano Gabbana: Really, we love women!

Dg Now that this ad (seen on Adrants a few weeks ago) has finally been shelved, Newsweek asks Stefano Gabbana if he was really surprised it got a negative reaction. He basically says, what’s the big deal? “From both human and emotional points of view, we certainly do not want to attack women, a sex for whom we have always declared our love, as the feminine market represents 60 percent of our worldwide sales,” he says. “If one had to give an interpretation of the picture, it could recall an erotic dream, a sexual game.” Not surprisingly, the National Organization for Women interprets it quite differently.

Dolce and Gabbana so rarely make use of women in their ads perhaps they didn't know what to do with one.

Their usual stuff features generally features an array of shirtless men, pants pushed down to just millimeters above their genitals, arranged in a pose that makes Abercrombie & Fitch ads look positively heterosexual. A feat in an of itself.

Oh how they must love the free publicity of millions of blogs and papers writing about the ad...

They aren't that stupid, neither was the photographer who shot the campaign

As for the NOW Campaign, look that argument is as old as time itself, but magazine are still purchased and slimming pills are now the biggest controlled drug for sale in the US, so are they really speaking as the voice of women?

He's holding her down, you creep.

Gabbana, not Gabbano. A as in the feminine italian words.

Look at his arms, Rory, they're touching the floor, not her arms. So he ain't holding her down.

I mean, come on! She's lucky to have so many men around her, it's an aspirational message. What's the big deal? This is yet another attempt to deny women of their sexuality.

Bobby, you're wrong . He's holding her wrist. Gee, it sure looks romantic, too. You're an idiot.

It's not sexual at all. They actually just want her earrings, then they'll be off to the club.

I don't think this is pseudo-rape. I think if she wants to, she'll just get up and kick Tinkerbell's ass. Don't you?
