Uniforms with ad panels: a new frontier!

Eyelevel Designers long ago transformed clothing into self-promotional vehicles via labels and logos. Now, Eye Level Marketing (a division of the Billboard Clothing Co., probably not related to Armani) has begun placing big ad panels on employee uniforms. And aren’t they attractive? Eye Level says workers at sports arenas, state fairs, theme parks, supermarkets and drugstores are perfect for their signage. But why stop there? It’s not such a leap to imagine Pfizer and J&J buying space on physicians’ scrubs, or Taser and Smith & Wesson advertising on police uniforms. There’s a joke there about a captive audience, but it’s not funny.

You know, this gives me that icky feeling inside. It reminds of Cheesecake Factory menus and how they have local ads mixed in with it. When I am starving and cranky, do I really want to see a local jeweler's ad? I feel like this billboard clothing thing is going to have the same effect. Just because it's a place to advertise doesn't make it a good idea.

This is just a logical (but copied) extension of a concept that I pioneered a long time ago.

It REALLY irritates me when people pass it off as one of their ideas.

Using the same principles, I created a solution to wasted advertising space (school children) and the problem of forgetting sports clothes:

I think this is fine for places like sports bars and stuff. The Pfizer-on-scrubs idea--shut up! Some asshole is going to read that and think it's a GOOD idea!

We've already got pharmie cos advertising perscription medication directly to patients, we don't need them filling hospitals and private practices with that dangerous, noisy garbage.
