Say hello to your new Maytag repairman
With Sanjaya Malakar apparently not in the running, a Virginia man by the name of Clay Jackson has been selected as the new Maytag repairman. Jackson tried out for the part in New York on a whim, and was not reported to have worn his hair in a pony-tail mohawk (or “pony-hawk”) during the audition. Nor did he sing, poorly or otherwise, that we know of. According to the company, the Maytag repairman is evolving from someone “who had nothing to do,” because of Maytag’s legendary reliability, to someone who “is out and about because he wants to fix things.” Which actually sounds like a perfect evolution for our times.
