I would have been shocked if the reaction was anything different. Whoever thought this concept was worth pursuing is an absolute moron.

Shocking.

A clear testament to Tv programmers' desperate groping for content. There would have been more to draw from with Clara of "Where's the Beef" fame. This trend of short attention span theater will only push more folks to the web for entertainment. It's no wonder that unscripted content has filled programming schedules, yet the argument of reality tv being cheaper to produce may be just part of the story in light of such a lack of original and compelling scripted ideas.

Me too. I'm am completely shocked by this news and will probably lose at least 3 minutes of sleep over it.

Hard to believe a TV show based on a completely mediocre commercial series could ever fail.
Stunning.

You have to admit that these caveman idiots in these commericials are causing a pretty good stir around the media industry. A failure indeed though

Did Spuds McKenzie, of Budweiser fame in the 80's, have his own show? How about the chihuahua from Taco Bell?? Why would someone think this storyline was a good idea? The whole concept left me with many bad questions, and no answers...

If you're gonna make a TV Commercial into a series, get David Spade and that kid "Chubbsey" from the Capital One commercials from a couple of years ago and make a series out of that!
Kind of a Road Runner - Wylie E. Coyote thing set in an office.

Come on. When you 1st heard about this project, did you think they were serious? When you found out they were, did you really think it would have a chance? Whoever gave this a greenlight in the 1st place should be fired. ABC, shame on you.

Ok, maybe now Madison Ave types will stick to their sandbox. They can't do content.

I would rather watch air than those commercials.

I love how angry you ad-guys get over what equals commercial success in this game. The responders here are wearing their insecurities on their collective sleeve.

I love Helene's idea of a David Spade/Chubbsey sitcom...Join the groundswell

They should make a show about a Cialis Man. The show could be called "36". Each episode would begin with the Cialis man and his wife alone and feeling romantic. No sooner does he take a Cialis, the doorbell rings. They have company that he spends the rest of the show trying to get rid of. Or, he keeps facing a series of calamities that keep him apart from his wife. At each commercial break, the audience would see the countdown clock. Each episode would end as he finally gets rid of the visitors, or fixes all of the calamities and either the countdown clock would hit 0.00 or his wife would fall asleep.

I say give it a chance, you never know. Poor early reviews don't necessarily mean failure. I mean come on, its friggen CAVEMEN on TV (!) -- how bad could it be?
I'm sensing a re-tapping of that part of the human psyche that the Flintstones captured all those years ago: uhh... I lost my point, nevermind.

Saw it and it was actually really funny. I think it just may be controversial enough to be a big hit. Its worth a shot at the very least I think. The Cavemen (and the rest of the cast for that matter) were really funny.

If it's true, and the pilot is not good then the blame goes to ABC who completely dropped the ball. Making a series from these commercials is brilliant just like the commercials themselves. If the commercials are funny then WHY NOT attempt a series? you already have a great head start!! It just requires tallented writers and actors which the commercials had. Just get additional experienced and talented writers who are familiar with the 30 minute format and the show would have a chance. As it is now the show was most likely doomed as soon as they decided not to use the original actors. I still want to give the show a chance even without the original actors because I also love the idea - it's very clever and original. Someone mentioned that Derek Flint might have an agenda when he wrote his review ( it kind of looks that way ) so I'm still hoping but I'm hanging by a thread.

This is a business. You, I and millions of consumers will all be watching when this freakshow hits the air. ABC knows that. The advertisers know that. That's all there is to it. If you want culture, turn off the T.V. and pick up a book.

The whole fuss reminds me of a now(mercifully) forgotten '60s series called "It's About Time," which featured astronauts thrown back in time a sharing a cave with a Neanderthal family.
And yes, it WAS as bad as that synopsis makes it sound.

:(
I'm so disappointed.

But looking on the bright side...at least I'll always have my memories...(of the wonderful caveman TV spots).
Still, I wonder, could the reviewers be proved wrong? One can hope.

they need to bring the 'real' actors back. the ones from the commercial..the second i saw that they were not on the show...i 'shut down'. i was disappointed from the start and didnt give it a chance...i didnt even finish watchingit. i hope they change the actors...then maybe i would give it a second chance.
