Footage of Steve Jobs introducing ‘1984’

I hadn’t seen this video before—a 28-year-old Steve Jobs grooving to Irene Cara’s “What a Feeling” and then unveiling Apple’s “1984” commercial, with plenty of bravado, a few months before it aired on the Super Bowl. According to most reports, the setting is Apple’s sales conference in Hawaii in October 1983. Steve’s Star Wars analogy is amusing.

Guess that proves he can wear something other than a faded, stretched out, black mock turtleneck.

Is this really Steve Jobs? Looks like it's from the Hollywood movie about him.

If so, WTF are you doing here?

yes, I do believe i've seen a steve's presentation with style at that time of a double breasted peak lapel jacket (could those be brushed aluminum buttons?) with a formal button down shirt no placket. The bowtie , can't be sure: bat wing or thistle.

but maybe that was not a real video

I was watching Pink Floyd's "The Wall" on VH1 recently. I had never seen the film before but landed on it while channel surfing. During the song, "Another Brick in the Wall," it struck me that the scene over which this played--kids filing in line in an industrial setting to a conveyer belt, complete with the schoolmaster shouting hatefully at them--is precisely where Chiat Day got the idea for 1984. Still a brilliant spot, though.

I believe Euro RSCG's "Gellin" spot got the same reaction when it was debuted at a Dr. Scholl's convention.
