Next ‘American Idol’ project goes to eleven
The American Idol folks are launching a new talent show, tentatively titled The Search for the Next American Band. The show will debut on Fox this fall. Promotional opportunities abound. Gibson guitars and Zildjian cymbals seem like the perfect commercial accompaniment—maybe Band-Aids for the critiquing segments. And if the judges start sipping from Dr Pepper cups, there’s one group of Bubble-heads that just might pop in for a crossover appearance. As for Boston’s “headliner” tunesmith Jake Brennan, well, adding a full band couldn’t do any harm.
