Anti-immigration cry: ‘Where the fence?’

It’s not exactly the height of fashion to be parodying a hamburger commercial from 1984, but this new anti-immigration spot proves that Wendy’s “Where’s the beef?” line still has legs. The parody is by a conservative group called Grassfire, which opposes the immigration reform efforts in the Senate, and is calling attention here to the 700-mile border fence which was approved by Congress last year but has yet to be built. The screechy old lady, who has nothing on Clara Peller, repeatedly asks, “Where’s the fence?” The ad won’t win any points for subtlety, particularly when the old white ladies start pointing and shouting at the Mexicans crossing the road.
