Wilco fans not thankful for VW commercials
Here’s one of the new Volkswagen ads that are causing conniptions among some hard-core Wilco fans. The spot features the Wilco song “The Thanks I Get,” an unreleased track recorded during sessions for the band’s new record, Sky Blue Sky. Several more ads are in the works, and the campaign will eventually feature five or six Wilco tracks in total. The band sees this as intelligent marketing for its music. Some of the more obsessive fans see it as a deal with the devil. What’s odd is that these fans are so surprised. Not only has Jeff Tweedy done ads before, he let his sons shill for Quaker before they were teenagers. Via Adverganza.
